Remembering James. In 2025, a memorial bench was organised in St George in the East's garden, as James wanted, with this being his favourite local green place and one where he had spent time reading as well as passing through on many occasions, including when moving flats.
The bench is in a perfect position, overlooking the Cable Street Mural, and surrounded by flowers and greenery. We have added a special plant in the bed next to the bench, under which we placed some of James' ashes, so part of him will always be in his London home. The plant - Plectranthus fruticosus 'James' - seemed so appropriate, being a softly branching evergreen, with olive green foliage tinged with purple beneath and pinky-purple flowers that attract bees and butterflies.
It's a beautiful and peaceful spot to sit and spend time with James and share your many memories of him, with him.
He will always be with us and forever in our hearts 💜💜💜💜💜💜
